Your hands aren't free.
This free version builds in a $2.00 labor estimate per shipment (about 6 minutes at $20/hour) so your price reflects your time. Set your real rate in the course.
$2.00 labor per shipment. Most artists forget this and quietly pay themselves nothing. It's already baked into your suggested price on the right.
The biggest hidden cost.
Free version uses USPS First-Class Flat ($1.65) plus a 5% loss/damage buffer. This works for most US-based print clubs under 13 oz.
USPS First-Class Flat โ $1.65 + 5% buffer = $1.73 per shipment. Under 13 oz, up to ยพ" thick, no tracking. This is where most print clubs land.
Fees come off the top.
Your suggested price on the right is BEFORE fees. Stripe, platform fees, sales tax, and refunds still eat into your margin.
Stripe takes 2.9% + $0.30. Cratejoy takes 10%. Patreon takes 8-12%...
What it should cost.
Calculated at a 60% margin, with an estimated $2 labor and a 5% shipping buffer baked in. This is a floor โ once you add optional items, your real labor rate, your shipping zone, and payment/platform fees (all in the course), your number usually goes up.
